Nassime Chida

Nassime-Jehan Chida est née à Londre en 1982 de parents Pakistanais. Après un an à l’Université de Bologna, elle remporte le prix Junior Paget Toynbee pour un essai sur le Paradis Dantesque. Nassime vit à Brixton avec son amoureux.

In 1274 a nine-year-old Dante Alighieri first set eyes on an eight-year-old Beatrice Portinari. She died at the age of 24. In the Vita Nova, Dante vowed to write of her that which had never been written of any woman. The Commedia is the greatest monument in Europe’s literary landscape and it unquestionably saved Beatrice from historical oblivion. This article explores what love meant for Dante, how it lead him to condemn the lyrical tradition of courtly love, and make love the centre of the cosmos.
